We get money from our job, from our business or maybe by offering our professional services (freelancing). We usually get a good amount of money to live and even to save for the future. But this doesn’t mean that we are making wealth.
Actually, most of us just make enough money to cover our daily expenses. Most people don’t have the chance or don’t give themselves the opportunity to save some money for the future. And of course, they are not generating wealth at all.

Taking opportunities is not always easy. The first thing is that opportunities are not that common. They may arrive or they may not. Besides that, there are two situations that may complicate the chance to take an opportunity:
- You are not sure about taking the opportunity.
- You are not ready to take it!
We usually discuss the first point — when we are not sure or are afraid to make a decision. However, there are also several times when we want or need to take advantage of an opportunity, but we are not ready to do it!

A lot of people feel public speaking nerves. It is natural. We are all afraid of making mistakes. It is the same natural fear of failure. When we are in front of a lot of people we are exposed: any mistake with our words, voice or body will be immediately seen and criticized by most of the audience. Or that is what we think.
Compare yourself to important people
I have had the chance to be part of an audience of +2,000 people, listening to important managers at the companies I have worked for. It is common that the companies organize a yearly meeting where the objectives and achievements from the past year are reviewed.
The managers who present the information in those events to the whole company, are very important people. An they still have the same problems and public speaking nervousness as normal people — such as you and me — have. They have problems with their voice, with the computer they are using to show information, with the sound system, with the audience…
Public speaking is simple

The new Disney version of Alice in wonderland has been recently released in several countries of the world. I saw the movie last week and I liked it a lot. There are a lot of things we can learn from the characters of the story. One of my favorites is the one of the Hatter’s.
Don’t worry. I won’t say anything about the movie in case you have not seen it (although the story is well known).
The Hatter
The hatter is the character that most impressed me. He has a very well defined objective: get the wonderland the place it was before the bad queen arrived. He even was going to celebrate in a particular way once the objective was met.

Last weekend I was in a party with some friends. I was the only one almost in the whole party who was not drinking alcohol. I never do it because I simply don’t like it.
One of my friends was telling me that he often feels overloaded and stressed because of his job and because of all the activities he has to do every day. He is 29 and single. He was saying that the only way he could get relaxed after a complicated day was having a drink. He sometimes gets home after work and drinks a beer watching TV.
It is not bad to drink a beer after a stressful day, as long as you don’t start drinking more than that and in a daily basis. So, he asked me how I did to manage daily stress if I never drink alcohol. Of course having a drink is not the only way to have a moment for yourself and get relaxed.
These are some simple things I enjoy doing when I feel overloaded:
